Lead and manage corporate level energy efficiency efforts, activities and programs including planning and conducting energy audits, training energy coordinators, optimizing steam generation, ensuring accuracy in the corporate energy accounting and database, overall focus being to reduce energy consumption per ton of product produced.

• Develop long term Energy Strategy for the plant (Standards and goals for all energy media and environmental impacts/controls) including benchmarking between plants
• Conduct inter-plant benchmarking to improve efficiency in energy projects
• Advising Senior Management on contributing to sustainable energy initiatives, Government Incentives, Legal requirements
• Ensures Process Capability and Efficiency improvement or stabilisation
• Ensure clear and precise reports, present technical information and data in an effective manner for Plant Operations Reviews, internal department reviews
• Ensure equipment standardisation and compliance with Central Engineering Machine & Equipment Specification (MES)
• Plans, develops strategies and oversees the implementation of goals, objectives and priorities for the division - 5-year plan
• Recruitment & development of methods to retain specialised skills
• Ensure Energy project cost planning & cost-effective management
• Ensure adherence and compliance to approved standards, South African legislated Legal requirements relating to all Energy generation and reticulation system projects in accordance with OHS Act, ISO, SABS, Building Regulation
